April 24 Meeting

The Youghiogheny River Watershed Association will meet Tuesday, April 24, 7:00 PM at the Garrett College CAOS building.

The speaker will be local Fisheries Biologist Matt Sell on brook trout in Garrett County streams and rivers.
Matt Sell grew up as an avid trout angler in southern Pennsylvania, fishing for wild trout in the many spring creeks found in that region since he was young.  His love for angling, and trout fishing more specifically, was the impetus for choosing a career path as a fisheries biologist, where he began at Frostburg State University in September, 2000.  In 2004 he graduated from there with honors and immediately began his graduate work on hydrology and watershed management, also at FSU.  During this time, he worked part time in the entomology lab at the University of Maryland, Center for Environmental Science, Appalachian Lab, which led to work as a research assistant on the Maryland Biological Stream Survey.  In August of 2009, he was given the opportunity to move into the Inland Fisheries Division of DNR, working as the Brook Trout Specialist and has continued in that position until now.
Water Monitoring Volunteers...
Christine King will be at the Garrett College CAOS building before the YRWA meeting this coming Tuesday, April 24th starting around 6pm (see the meeting information below).  Their meeting begins at 7pm so I would like to finish up at that time.

Please plan on attending one of these meetings to have your meters checked.  Please contact me if you cannot attend any of the above meetings so we can arrange something else.  Bring along your meter, your calibration log and any questions you may have.

Please invite anyone one you believe may be interested and we look forward to seeing you Tuesday evening!
